Maik Wiesen M.Sc.
PhD Student | Self-Formation
I am a research associate in the Collaborative Research Center 1482 “Studies in Human Differentiation” (CRC 1482) and a PhD student at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. I completed a BA in sociology at Heidelberg University and an MSc in medical anthropology at the University of Oxford. I have also worked as a tutor and assistant researcher at the Max Weber Institute in Heidelberg, where I supported the teaching and research operations of the Department of Methods of Empirical Social Research and Social Structure Analysis. My research is situated at the intersection of disability and sexuality, concerning the social construction of “disabled sexuality” as well as “sexual (in)ability”. As such, I study sex education and counseling for people with and without disabilities utilizing ethnographic and biographical research methods.
